Get your head in the clouds

Couple enjoying a Floating Images hot air balloon flight over the City of Ipswich and surrounding areas.

The best way to see the Ipswich countryside is sky-high in a Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Flights basket.

Live out your motorsport dreams

V8 Race Experience

You can become a V8 race car driver for a day in the drivers’ seat of an iconic Ford, Holden, Mustang or Camaro.   Or take to the track in a go kart, drift car or on the back of a superbike.

Walk the Ipswich Central Street Art trail

Ipswich Central Street Art Trail: The Unveiling (Gus Eagleton)

Find 13 murals painted in laneways, on buildings and churches around the city.  The art sits near cafes, music venues and art galleries right in the heart of Ipswich Central.  A must-see while you’re in town.

Hike by day or night

Flinders Peak

Standing at an impressive 679m, Flinders Peak isn’t for the faint-hearted. It’s higher than the Glass House Mountains and recommended for advanced hikers – but the effort is worth it for breathtaking views.

And while we love hiking by day, there are night tours available.  Experience the trails at White Rock–Spring Mountain Conservation Estate in another light on a guided night hike. Head up to the lookout at dusk as nocturnal animals wake from their slumber.

Tours are found on our tours page.

Attend a major event

CMC Rocks QLD

CMC Rocks QLD, Winternationals, Australian Super Bikes Championships, Earth Frequency Festival and Queensland’s largest regional race day – the Ipswich Cup – all happen in Ipswich.  If you’re after big ticket fun, then these are a must do.

Golf like Greg Norman

Brookwater Golf and Country Club

Weave your way through two Greg Norman-designed nine-hole loops situated in the gorgeous natural surrounds of the Brookwater Golf and Country Club. After a round on the award-winning public access course visit the clubhouse with bar and restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Taste test at local watering holes

Prince Alfred Hotel

Wrap your lips around 72 beers and ciders at Tap’d (the largest craft beer bar in Southern Hemisphere), at the Prince Alfred Hotel.  Or visit craft beer breweries Pumpyard Bar and Brewery and Ballistic Springfield and our award-winning local gin distillery – Imbibis Craft Distillery.

Ride the longest MTB descent in SEQ

Hidden Vale Adventure Park

There’s a multitude of mountain biking (MTB) tracks you can ride at Hidden Vale Adventure Park, but the one we love is 500 Above. It’s the longest continuous descent in Southeast QLD and its name eludes to its height – 500m above sea level. It takes 15 minutes to ride down, but much longer to climb (you can book a shuttle to the top though). Not for the faint of heart or inexperienced.

Meet friends of the furry kind

Cuddle lambs at the Ewe Nique Hobby Farm in lambing season

Head to Ipswich’s favourite attraction, the Ipswich Nature Centre, the only free zoo on SEQ, visit Queensland’s largest herd of llamas at The Llama Farm or pat and feed the farm animals at Ewe Nique Hobby Farm and Mysteria Alpacas.

Go stargazing at Spicers Hidden Vale

Take the time to visit Spicers Hidden Vale.  While most people visit for the stunning scenery, hatted restaurant and lux accommodation, there’s another reason to visit: stargazing.  At night you’ll see a fantastic display of stars as there is little to no light pollution from major cities to block your view.
