Here’s a farm where you can meet, pat, lead and feed some creatures that you just don’t see every day. Introduce your littlies to the hilarious and adorable herd at Mysteria Alpacas on Sundays when the farm opens for two sessions – from 10.00 am-12.00 pm and 1.00 pm-3.00 pm.
Cathy and Lachlan have been growing their herd since falling for the long necked camelids in 2009 – since then their breeding program and a couple of new purchases has boosted numbers significantly. There are black and brown and white alpacas and even a couple with striking blue eyes. Each has a name and visitors to the farm can purchase feed for the friendly characters or even opt to walk them around the property (parental supervision required for children aged under 8).
There is an onsite/online shop where you can purchase a variety of Alpaca products to remind you of your experience or grab some light refreshments. The couple also offer birthday parties on Saturdays for bookings of seven children or more at their farm which is a few minutes’ drive from the village of Grandchester and just 73 km west of Brisbane. The two-hour birthday bookings include bottomless buckets of feed for the alpacas, a free alpaca walk for the guest of honour, free admission for adults accompanying children and party platters.
