This Christmas holidays (the period between Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day) if you’ve got friends visiting and want to impress, or if you just don’t want to do the dishes, check out these great restaurants and bars open to serve you.

Bakehouse Steakhouse
Bakehouse Steakhouse will be serving up deliciousness until Christmas Eve and then close Christmas Day and Boxing Day. They’ll open again on 27 December until 31 December but shut on 1 January.
Ballistic Brewery
Ballistic Brewery Bar and Kitchen will be open every day during the holidays except Christmas Day! There will also be extended trading on New Year’s Eve until 1am.
Barkley and Pips
Dog-friendly cafe Barkley and Pips will be open through the holiday period only closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Brothers Leagues Club
Brothers Leagues Club will be open the entire Christmas period except Christmas Day and there are no public holiday surcharges. The club boasts a restaurant and a cafe, a state of the art kids play room, as well as three bars on site and they have gelato!
There’s a special two-course Christmas dinner with roast turkey and ham, roasted vegetables and gravy, plum pudding and custard available for lunch or dinner from 1-24 December.
Plus kids eat for free at lunch and dinner on Mondays with a full priced adult main meal! The club closes at midnight on Christmas Eve.
Chai House Cafe
Chai House Cafe at Silkstone will be open all holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Club Services Ipswich
Club Services Ipswich will be open all through the holidays except Christmas Day, seven days a week.
Elderflower Cafe
Elderflower Cafe will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, but open the rest of the holidays from 7am!
Essence of Indya
Indian restaurant Essence of Indya will be open the entire holidays except Christmas Day, and dinner only on 1 January. Get in for modern Indian dishes.
Falvey’s Hotel Yamanto
Falvey’s Hotel Yamanto will be open for most of the holidays, except dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Fourthchild Cafe
Specialty Campos coffee, epic breakfasts and delicious lunches and dinners will be available at Fourthchild every day during the holidays except for 26 December and 1 January.
They’re also opening Christmas Day from 10.30am-1.30pm with a festive lunch booking available, pre-bookings are required. A special menu will be available for New Years Eve also!
General Public
General Public will be open all through the holidays except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day!
Grandchester Hotel
You’ll be able to eat at Grandchester Hotel during the holidays except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Holmes St Cafe
Get great coffee and breakfast at Holmes St Cafe during the holidays, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Homage
Looking for a unique countryside experience with exceptional food then head to Homage! They are open for dining during the holidays, however Christmas Day bookings are limited.
Homage will also be open on New Year’s Eve but bookings must be made in advance.
Hotel Commonwealth
Hotel Commonwealth will be open, except for the public holidays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Ipswich Jets
Open the entire holidays except Christmas Day, Ipswich Jets is the place to be for heritage charm and great food.
Indian Mehfil
You can enjoy delicious Indian food at Indian Mehfil for lunch and dinner all through the Christmas period, except for Christmas Day.
Memories of India
Enjoy traditional Indian cuisine during the holidays except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day at Memories of India.
Mihi Tavern
The Mihi Tavern is open the entire holidays including Christmas Day! They will be serving up a delicious buffet lunch on the big day too – bookings are essential.
Monte Lane
Chic bar and restaurant Monte Lane will be open during the holidays only closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Montezuma’s Ipswich
Montezuma’s Ipswich will be close Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, but they will be open all other days during the period.
Moselles Cafe + Restaurant
Enjoy epic breakfast and burgers at Moselles this holiday season as they will open all through the period, except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Orion Hotel
Orion Hotel will only be closed on Christmas Day, every other day enjoy great food and drinks.
PA Hotel
The Prince Alfred Hotel will be open all holidays serving up delish paddock to plate fare, except Christmas Day and there’s no surcharges on public holidays.
Rafter and Rose
The charming Rafter and Rose cafe in Ipswich’s Top of Town precinct will be open Christmas Eve from 6.30am-12pm and Christmas Day from 7am-11am (or until sold out) and then closing Boxing Day until January 5. They will re-open on January 6 with normal trading hours.
Racehorse Hotel
If you’re after some great pub fare, The Racehorse Hotel is open for the whole Christmas period! You will need to book for Christmas Day however.
Ruby Chews
Ruby Chews will be open right through the holidays except for Christmas Day. Classic burgers and crispy chicken are the things to try here!
St Shoebill
St Shoebill cafe will be closed only Christmas Day, head in to enjoy breakfast and lunch over the holidays.
Stony Creek Brewing
Get a taste of locally brewed craft beer and exceptional food from Stony Creek Brewing these holidays. They will be open up until 23 December and then closed until 27 and 28 December when the bar and bottle shop will be open from 12pm-3pm (the kitchen will be closed but there will be snacks available). On January 2, 3 and 4 they will open from 12pm-5pm with a modified menu of beef burgers, fish tacos, fries and onion rings available until 3pm. Then they’ll reopen as usual on Wednesday 7 January.
Summer Land Camels Cafe
The Summer Land Camels Cafe will be open all through the holidays with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day!
The Cottage Restaurant
The Cottage Restaurant will be open for dinner bookings on 27 December, lunch and dinner on 28 through to 31 December also.
They’ll be closed for dinner on 24, 25 and 26 December and lunch on 27 December. They will be totally closed on 1 January.
Bookings are encouraged to avoid disappointment, as the restaurant may alter hours over the holidays depending on bookings.
The Rising Sun Hotel
The charming two-story timber pub, The Rising Sun Hotel will be open the entire holiday period except for Christmas Day.
The Rosewood Hotel
The Rosewood Hotel will be open the entire holiday period except for Christmas Day. Head in for prawn buckets, karaage chicken, epic burgers and more.
The Q
The Q Restaurant will be open all holidays except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day for lunch and dinner. Their new summer menu has launched, and it’s made for sharing. Take on the Oceans Plate for Two, or go all-in with the Meat Platter for Two – stacked with pork riblets, grilled secret sausage, sticky wings, bourbon BBQ sauce, creamy slaw and mac and cheese. It’s big, bold, indulgent and built for good times.

Ungermann Brothers
You can enjoy gourmet ice cream the entire holiday period at UB’s Milk Bar except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The milk bar will open from 11am-3pm on Boxing Day, 11am-9pm on Saturday 27 December, 9am-3pm on Sunday 28 December, 11am-8pm on Monday 29 December and Tuesday 30 December, 11am-4pm on Wednesday 31 December and 11am-9pm on Friday 2 January, 2026.
