This Christmas holidays if you’ve got friends visiting and want to impress, or if you just don’t want to do the dishes, check out these great restaurants open to serve you.

Rafter and Rose

The charming Rafter and Rose cafe in Ipswich’s Top of Town precinct will be open Christmas Eve from 6.30am-2pm and 7am-12pm on Christmas Day for takeaway only, then closing until January 3.  They will re-open on January 4 with normal trading hours.

The Cottage Restaurant

The Cottage Restaurant is open for lunch on Christmas Eve (closing at 2pm) and Christmas Day from 11.30-3.30pm, bookings essential.

They will also open on New Year’s Eve normal hours and from 6pm for dinner on New Year’s Day.

They will close from January 9 to January 26 and reopen for normal trade on January 27.

Bookings are encouraged to avoid disappointment, as the restaurant may alter hours over the holidays depending on bookings.

Racehorse Hotel

If you’re after some great pub fare, The Racehorse Hotel is open for the whole Christmas period from 10am-2am, and until 4am Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights!  You will need to book for Christmas Day however.

Brothers Leagues Club

Brothers Leagues Club will be open the entire Christmas period except Christmas Day.   The club boasts a restaurant and a cafe as well as three bars on site and have recently launched a new menu with great seafood offerings!

They also have a Christmas special running in the lead up to Christmas available until December 24, which is roast turkey and ham with roast vegetables and gravy, plum pudding and custard for $26 (members price).

Pumpyard Bar and Brewery

There’s a couple of chances to get a taste of locally brewed craft beer and exceptional food from the Pumpyard Bar and Brewery these holidays.  While the Pumpyard will be closed most of the period between Christmas and New Years’ they are going to open from 12pm to 8pm on Wednesday December 29, Thursday December 30 and Friday December 31 (open until 8.30 this night).  They’re also open from 12pm-3pm on Christmas Eve.

The next chance you’ll have to get in will be January 5 when they re-open for normal trade after the holiday period.

Queens Park Cafe

Located in the heart of Ipswich right near the Ipswich Nature Centre and a fantastic children’s playground Queens Park Cafe will be open over the holidays except for Christmas and Boxing Day, Monday December 27, Tuesday December 28.

They’ll also close New Year’s Day, Sunday January 2 and Monday January 3.

 

Ipswich Jets

Open the entire holidays except Christmas Day, Ipswich Jets is the place to be for heritage charm and great food.

They are also offering a three course Christmas meal in the lead up to Christmas, for parties and get togethers for $30 (members price) which includes an entrée of prawns or bruschetta, turkey or glazed ham for main and steamed Christmas pudding or pavlova for dessert.

There’s also a $45 option (members price) which has crispy pork belly, beetroot cured salmon or roasted marinated mushrooms for entrée; seared fillet of salmon, pepper crusted chicken thigh, Korean steak or beetroot and potato gnocchi for mains; and lime tart or crème brulee for dessert.

Club Services Ipswich will be open all through the holidays except Christmas Day, seven days a week from 10am – 4am.  Head into enjoy a drink at the bar or one of their popular pub meals like their huge chicken schnitzel!

Montezuma’s Ipswich

Montezuma’s Ipswich will be open Christmas Eve, then close from Christmas Day for a four-day break.  They will re-open on Wednesday December 29.

PA Hotel

The Prince Alfred Hotel specialises in fresh delicious seafood.  They will be open all holidays except Christmas Day.

Indian Mehfil

You can enjoy delicious Indian food at Indian Mehfil for lunch and dinnner all through the Christmas period, they are even opening up on Christmas Day from 4.30pm to 9.30pm.

Indian Mehfil are continuing their tradition of serving those less fortunate with Christmas lunch this year.  They will open the restaurant for Christmas Day lunch at no cost to seniors and those in need from 11am to 1pm. They are taking donations of non-perishable food items and hygiene products for their special guests.

Brookwater Barista

The Brookwater Barista will be open every day over the holiday period except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Monday December 27.  Head in for great fresh food and menus featuring seasonal produce.

Ruby Chews

Ruby Chews will be open right through the holidays except for Christmas Day. Classic burgers and crispy chicken are the things to try here!

Fourthchild Cafe

Specialty Campos coffee, epic breakfasts and delicious lunches and dinners will be available at Fourthchild right up until 2pm on December 24.

Fourthchild will then close until Wednesday December 29 when they will open from 7am-4.30pm, they will be open the same hours on Thursday December 30 and until late on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.  Open 7am-3pm on Sunday January 2 and 7am to 4.30pm on Monday January 3.

They’ve also got a festive two or three course special on the menu available until lunch on Christmas eve.

Entree includes a choice of crumbed camembert, arancini balls or salt and pepper calamari; mains are crumbed chicken breast, crispy pork belly, herb crusted salmon and pumpkin or fetta ravioli; dessert is a choice of plum pudding, rocky road brownie or bakes cheesecake.  Two courses for $50, three for $65.

Retro Diner

Get stuck into some retro food including burgers, wraps and epic shakes at The Retro Diner.  Open all holidays except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.  New Year’s Eve they are opening from 8am-11am.

Don’t miss their new cocktail menu available Saturday nights, great for a Christmas or New Year’s celebration – you can also dine in and takeaway Saturday nights.

The Cafe Kalina

Known for their epic Philly cheese steak sandwiches the Cafe Kalina will be taking a break from Christmas Eve until Wednesday December 28 and re-opening for bookings on Wednesday December 29 until Sunday January 2.

They will also close for the day on Monday January 3.

Ballistic Springfield

Boutique beers and beer-infused food can be found on the menu here.  Ballistic Springfield will be open with extended trading hours until December 24 and a new $20 lunch and drink combo available Monday to Friday.

Sundays to Tuesdays they will open 10am-5pm with the kitchen open 11.30am-3pm, Wednesday and Thursdays they will open from 10am-10pm with the kitchen open from 11.30am-3pm and 4pm-8.30pm and Friday and Saturdays they will open from 10am-11pm with the kitchen open from 11.30am-3pm and 4pm-9pm.

They will close Christmas Day and Boxing Day, December 27 and 28 then be open from 11.30-9pm on Wednesday December 29 and Thursday December 30.

Ballistic will also open 11.30-10;m on New Year’s Eve and 3pm-11pm on New Year’s Day.  They will open 11.30-5pm on Sunday January 2, but close for the day on Monday January 3.

Hearty breakfasts and lunch by the Orion Lagoon are being served up over the holiday period at Breakfast at Stephanies.  Open every day except Christmas Day.

The Barn Family Restaurant

The Barn Family Restaurant at the Ipswich Turf Club will be open up until and including lunch on Christmas Eve.

Then they will take a break from Christmas Day until December 28.

They will also close for Dinner on New Year’s Eve until January 4.

Summer Land Camels

Summer Land Camels will close from December 25- December 27 and January 1.  Which means the Homestead Cafe will also be closed.

Coffee Guru Brookwater

While Coffee Guru Brookwater will be taking an extended break over the holidays you’ll be able to get coffee and food from 6.30am-4pm on Christmas Eve and again on New Year’s Day.

They’ll also open on Saturday January 2 from 7.30pm-3pm and then they will be back to regular trade from Monday January 3.
