St Nicholas Precinct
Following on from the success of the Christmas lights displays at Nerima Gardens in previous years, this year Ipswich City Council brings you St Nicholas Precinct.
With the same lights designers in a new location, you can expect amazing photo worthy moments again with this new display in the new Ipswich mall.
St Nicholas Precinct will run from December 10 to 19 from 6.30pm-9.30pm and is free to enter. Plus you don’t need to book a ticket!

Festive flavoured ice ceam
Ungermann Brothers will be once again offering a limited run of festive ice cream flavours.
Tuck into candy cane or Xmas pudding as well as some of Ungermann Brothers’ other delicious specialty flavours in the Nicholas St Precinct from December 10-19.
*While their new Ipswich shop is currently under construction you’ll have to find them in the Nicholas St Precinct or at their Gold Coast location at Marina Mirage Friday, Saturdays and Sundays.
Christmas themed escape room
Seraphim Escape Rooms have a great holiday activity, a Christmas themed escape that the young and old can enjoy.

Get your shopping done at a market or boutique
Every year in the lead up to Christmas there’s a few special markets offering a great way to buy gifts including a huge on December 23 at Orion Springfield Central that run until midnight!
There’s also a selection of beautiful boutique shops around the Ipswich CBD and some even in the country areas stocking beautiful artisan products.
There’s a number of Christmas events coming up including carols, shows, carnivals, auctions and more.
Santa on tour
Santa and his fleet of festive trucks are stopping at key locations around Ipswich again this year bringing cheer.
Santa on Tour will stop at parks around the city over December 10-12 and 17-19.
QPSR Christmas train
Tickets are now on sale for the Swanbank Collier – Christmas Twilight Special. These trains depart at 3pm, 5pm and 7pm from Swanbank Station on Saturday December 11, Sunday December 12, Saturday December 18 and Sunday December 19.
Hauled by one of the Queensland Pioneer Steam Railways veteran diesels (5802 “BUBBA” or 1616), this tranquil evening run features heritage timber carriages and the sounds of the bushland springing to life as the sunsets.
The total round trip time is about one hour as the train winds its way back towards suburbia through old coal mining sites, lush bushland and along the base of Castle Hill.
There is a quick turn around of the locomotive at the Racecourse and the train then trundles back to Swanbank, through paddocks of horses and past quaint miners’ cottages.
Back at the station the Heritage Bus Association will be operating 10 minute bus rides around the Swanbank Lake.
Tickets are very limited due to latest restrictions so it is recommended to book early.
