Step back in time and experience high tea in the charm of a beautifully preserved historic Queenslander at Grays Bar & Restaurant. Enter via the grand front stairs and take a moment on the verandah to soak in the tranquil surroundings of the lush, landscaped garden. It’s the perfect backdrop for a relaxed yet elegant gathering.

Inside, the gallery room warmly welcomes you for a refined high tea experience. Sip on a variety of fine teas or freshly brewed coffee, paired with a gourmet selection of sweet and savoury delights at this high tea buffet, all lovingly prepared on site. To make the occasion even more special, guests are greeted with a glass of the house sparkling on arrival.

Bookings are essential, with high tea sittings available on Thursdays and Saturdays. Vegan and gluten-free options are available, just let the team know your dietary requirements when you book.

Fourthchild Cafe, Restaurant and Bar

Nestled in one of Ipswich’s charming heritage buildings, Fourthchild has been a beloved part of the Top of Town precinct for over a decade. Originally built in the 1800s as The Shamrock Inn, this historic venue now offers an inviting all-day dining experience, alongside a beautifully presented deluxe high tea. Guests can relax on the back deck which has a lovely view the iconic St Mary’s Church. Fourth Child’s delicious deluxe high tea includes traditional sandwiches and scones with jam and cream along with other tasty savoury and sweet treats.

Bookings are essential; this venue is well-equipped to accommodate large groups, making it perfect for special occasions like birthdays, bridal showers or group gatherings.

Wild Rose Cottage

Another delightful option for a heritage high tea experience is Wild Rose Cottage. This charming venue sets the scene with fresh, home-grown flower arrangements and candles at the table, creating an elegant atmosphere in this charming cottage. Their lovely high tea comes with three options of sweets, three savoury options (including fresh baked scones with strawberry jam and whipped cream) and two varieties of sandwiches.

High teas at Wild Rose Cottage are available all-day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, with 2pm sittings from Thursday to Saturday, subject to availability. Gluten-free and takeaway high tea options are also available.

The Cottage

The Cottage Restaurant is renowned for its fine dining degustation experiences and exquisite modern Australian cuisine. Housed in a delightful heritage Queenslander built in 1861, this former family home has been lovingly converted into one of Ipswich’s premier dining destinations.

Their high tea offering is just as impressive, featuring tea or coffee served alongside two decadent desserts from the a la carte menu, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, an assortment of sandwiches (including the all-time favourite smoked salmon, watercress and crème fraiche) and a selection of warm savoury options. For an extra touch of indulgence, you can also add a glass of bubbles.

Bookings are available from Wednesday to Friday from 10:30am until 1:30pm.

Queens Park Café

Set within one of Queensland’s oldest and most beloved parks, Queens Park Cafe is a fantastic family-friendly destination, just a minute’s stroll from the Ipswich Nature Centre and Nerima Gardens.

Their high tea features a classic tiered tower filled with mini cakes, petite scones, and an assortment of finger sandwiches, complemented by an unlimited tea and coffee station. Lace tablecloths add a touch of vintage elegance to the table setting.
