Love live music but not sure where to go in Ipswich? There’s more places than you might think in the heritage City of Ipswich! Some of the venues are within beautiful heritage buildings in the city, so read on to find out…

Studio 188

Studio 188

Starting at the Top of Town precinct, you will find Studio 188 which was formerly an art deco-style Baptist church. Located at 188 Limestone St Ipswich, Saturday nights are the best for live music here.

The venue is also a great intimate space for workshops, school performances and various forms of performing arts. Come along for Friday night trivia in this lovely acoustic venue! Studio 188 is available for hire throughout the week and is fully equipped with the latest visual, lighting and sound technology. 

Goleby’s Basement

Heading east along Brisbane Street, Goleby’s Basement is in a heritage listed building at 203 Brisbane Street Ipswich (entrance is via West Street). This space was originally used as a saddlery manufacturing workshop and now has four artist studios, a bar and performance studio which is available for hire. Check the venue’s Facebook page for upcoming events. 

The Rusty Nail

For delicious tapas and drinks, head to Ipswich’s newest live music venue The Rusty Nail for a Sunday session! You can catch live music from local artists here on Sundays from 3:30pm until 7:30pm. They are located at 44 Ipswich City Mall, Ipswich.

Banshees Bar and Artspace

As you head further east along Brisbane Street, you’ll also find Banshees Bar & Art Space. Come along to Open Mic night on Wednesdays from 7pm, karaoke on Thursdays from 8pm and gig nights some Friday and Saturday nights, as well as a banjo workshop on the first Sunday of every month from 3pm.  Check Banshee’s Facebook page for up-to-date event information. 

4 Hearts Brewing Co

Pumpyard Bar and Brewery | Ipswich

4 Hearts Brewing Co are the first new brewery in Ipswich since 1903, located in the heritage-listed Queen Victoria Silver Jubilee Memorial Technical College at 88 Limestone Street, Ipswich. Here you can find The Pumpyard Bar and Brewery, with a huge range of beers brewed on site, as well as hearty food, and live music in the laneway most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Ipswich Civic Centre

The Ipswich Civic Centre is another great place to watch live music.  With local and touring artists from around Australia and the globe, the Ipswich Civic Centre is the premier place for live music in Ipswich!

The Soul Nook Collective

Book in for a styled picnic

Last but not least, for a peaceful spot in the country, head to Marburg on a Saturday and visit The Soul Nook Collective to be serenaded while you sit under shady trees with a beverage and a sweet treat or gourmet picnic. To check when live music is on see their Facebook page.

Take in more live music at Ripley Markets, Springfield Markets and the markets at the Ipswich Showgrounds. 

Club Services Ipswich, Jets Leagues Club and Brothers Leagues Club also have free live music most weekends.
