Wild Rose serves winter warmers

It’s a family affair at Wild Rose Cottage where sisters Prudence, Verity, Evangeline, Abigail and Mum Joanne all pitch in to create a homely and welcoming Eastern Heights cafe.

The Ireland family took over the cafe earlier this year and have been earning a following for their home-style offerings. These include sweet treats baked onsite and winter warmers such as Italian hot chocolate and spiced pumpkin soup as the cooler days roll in.

A breakfast specialty is the “Figgy Piggy” – an oozy toasted sandwich of bacon and cheese and fig jam. And for the daring, you can swap out the standard cheese for a blue vein variety.

Good old-fashioned house-made scones just out of the oven with jam and cream are another specialty of Wild Rose Cottage.
