This Christmas holidays if you’ve got friends visiting and want to impress, or if you just don’t want to do the dishes, check out these great restaurants open to serve you.

Rafter and Rose

The charming Rafter and Rose cafe in Ipswich’s Top of Town precinct will be open the entire holiday period, even Christmas Day.  Opening hours will be updated on their Facebook Page.

The Cottage Restaurant


This fine dining restaurant will be open for Christmas Day lunch with a five course degustation menu available.

The Cottage Restaurant will also be open December 23, December 27, 28 and 31 and January 2-3 over the holiday period.

Racehorse Hotel

For a hassle free Christmas the Racehorse Hotel is open for lunch on Christmas Day and the whole Christmas period.

There will also be a special visit from Santa.

They are also hosting a New Year’s Eve carnival with burlesque, sword swallowing, fire twirling and DJs.



Brothers Leagues Club will be open the entire Christmas period except Christmas Day.   The club boasts a restaurant and a cafe as well as three bars on site.

Queens Park Cafe

Located in the heart of Ipswich right near the Ipswich Nature Centre and a fantastic children’s playground Queens Park Cafe will be open over the holidays except Christmas and Boxing Day.

Bakehouse Steakhouse

Bakehouse Steakhouse

Enjoy Christmas Eve lunch at Bakehouse Steakhouse.  They will be serving up an Aussie favourite – traditionally wood smoked Gilly’s Smallgoods Christmas ham.

Sip on special christmas cocktails and get into the holiday spirit!

Bakehouse will be open on December 27 and 28 also, then closed until January 3.

Ipswich Jets

Open the entire holidays except Christmas Day, Ipswich Jets is the place to be for heritage charm and great food.

Club Services Ipswich

Club Services Ipswich | Ipswich

Club Services Ipswich will be open all through the holidays except Christmas Day.  Enjoy free room hire for functions at this award winning club.

PA Hotel

The Prince Alfred Hotel specialises in fresh delicious seafood.  They will be open all holidays except Christmas Day.

Indian Mehfil

You can enjoy delicious Indian food at Indian Mehfil all through the Christmas period, except Christmas Day. 

The restaurant won’t be closed though, they have a long standing tradition of feeding the homeless and less fortunate on Christmas Day and will continue the custom this year requesting only a gold coin donation to help support the Queensland Fire Relief Appeal.

Brookwater Barista

Brookwater Barista

The Brookwater Barista will be open every day over the holiday period except Christmas Day.  Head in for gourmet pizzas and menus featuring seasonal produce.

Memories of India

Memories of India

Enjoy traditional Indian cuisine all holidays except Christmas Day and Boxing Day at Memories of India.

The restaurant will also be serving free food and soft drink to the homeless from 8pm-9pm on December 17-24.

Ruby Chews

Ruby Chews Burgers & Shakes

Classic burgers and crispy chicken as well as frozen custard are the things to try here.  Ruby Chews will be open during the holidays but closing at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve and 7.30pm on New Year’s Eve.

Fourthchild Cafe


Specialty Campos coffee, epic breakfasts and delicious lunches and dinners – Fourthchild will be open over the holidays except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Retro Diner

Tea and scones at the Retro Diner

Get stuck into some retro food including burgers, wraps and epic shakes at the Retro Diner.  Open all holidays except Christmas Day.

Ungermann Brothers

You can enjoy gourmet ice cream the entire holiday period except Christmas Day and Boxing Day!  Tuck into some Ungermann Brothers choc orange, carrot cake, blue cheese and fig, or lavender honeycomb.  Full list of flavours available online.

Ballistic Springfield

Boutique beers and beer-infused food including a chocolate stout cheesecake!  Ballistic Springfield will be open as normal until December 22, then on December 27, 28 and 29 with food trucks.  Normal trading by January 2.

Raw Energy Springfield

Fresh and vibrant food for breakfast and lunch.  Raw Energy is open right up until December 22.  Closed from December 23-26.

Make your New Year’s Eve an experience to remember at Spicers Hidden Vale. Just one hour from Brisbane CBD, the retreat is set on 12,000 acres of abundant bushland and hosts an onsite dining experience like no other at Homage Restaurant. 

Watch the sun set with a cocktail and roaming canapes while enjoying a market garden tour with one of our chefs. You’ll learn about Homage’s paddock to plate experience, watch the theatre of the chefs cooking over open coals then dine under the stars where you will taste the flavours of the land with our a la carte or tasting menu.

December 31, cocktails from 5pm and dinner from 6pm.  Tour costs $25, dinner at normal menu pricing.

Homage is also open for Christmas Day lunch by reservation only and the entire holidays except Christmas night.
