Ipswich’s famous Ungermann Brothers ice creamery has a new location along with an expanded menu and open hours, in the heart of the heritage city.

UB’s Milk Bar offers the full range of ice cream flavours – including the popular maple, bacon and pecan that has been such a hit since the company’s launch in 2018 – while adding a menu of burgers, waffles, poffertjes, coffee and macarons.

Open daily from 8am to 8pm on the corner of Brisbane and Ellenborough streets in the Top of Town precinct, the new venue boasts a vibrant fifties-inspired décor, a perfect backdrop for those old school milkshakes.

Owner Danny Ungermann said the family-run business was designed to be open for locals and visitors to pop in any time and enjoy a meal or a shake or simply a serve of delicious handmade ice cream.

The burger list includes a smoked pulled pork option with a smoky barbecue sauce and house-made slaw, and a UB’s Classic with wagyu beef patty, lettuce, cheese and tomato.

As a breakfast option, check out the savoury waffles with avocado and lashings of chutney and sour cream, finished with bacon bits and chives. Sweet options include a fragrant apple and cinnamon number with vanilla bean icecream, and fresh made poffertjes.

Ungermann Brothers ice cream flavours have a huge following with the aforementioned maple bacon a front runner, closely followed by lavender and honeycomb, and a tantalising Dutch spice.

The full ice cream range is available in individual serves and half-litre take-home tubs.
