Horsepower season fires up Winter in Ipswich

Winter might deliver a drop in the temperature to the heritage city but it’s also that time of the year when Ipswich’s horsepower season is just warming up.

 

Winternationals at Ipswich’s Willowbank Raceway from 8 to 11 July 2017.

It all fires up at Willowbank Raceway with the Winternationals from June 7-10 – the big finale of the fiercely contested national 400 Thunder series.

This is event is the biggest drag racing muster outside the USA and brings top drivers and tens of thousands of spectators out for a weekend of super-charged action.  Good to know: It’s geared up as a fun family event with kdis under 13 admitted free!

From motorsport to horse racing – the famed Ipswich Cup brings racing fans out in their finest fascinators on June 16.

This is a race that began in the same decade as the Melbourne Cup in the 1860s. Back then, the Ipswich run actually offered up a heftier purse that the race that went on to be the nation-stopper we know it as today.

Then, on July 20, there’s more top level motorsport action heading our way with the Ipswich SuperSprint happening at Queensland Raceway. Go along and show your team colours at round nine of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. Children 12 and under go trackside free with a paying adult, so bring the whole crew.
