Bakehouse Steakhouse has a new owner. Gerry Murphy has bought the restaurant in the century-old bakery building on Darling St.
The quirky heritage site was transformed into a contemporary restaurant five years ago by Stevenson brothers Nick, Chris and Alastair and has grown into a popular lunch and dinner option that lures many regulars out from Brisbane.
Gerry brings with the exec chef from The Commercial, Caleb Hodson, as operations manager. The pair worked closely together during the extensive redevelopment of the Commercial where the kitchen is now in the capable hands of Caleb’s father and long-time chef, Michael.
Bakehouse Steakhouse retains a focus on premium steaks, but diners will notice an expanded menu with the addition of new starters and entrees.
There are plans to add a retractable roof over the outdoor area at the rear making this a great year-round option for functions, and it will take on a tiki bar/ speakeasy vibe later on Friday and Saturday nights.
Gerry also hopes to make use of the laneway at the side of the restaurant.
