Ipswich Incinerator Theatre, Burley Griffin Drive Ipswich

‘Stepping Out’ written by Richard Harris is a rollicking comedy about the attempts of some working-class amateurs to overcome their inhibitions and left feet in a low-rent dance studio in North London.

Mavis, a former professional chorus girl, tries her hardest to teach the bumbling dancers, some terpsichorean skills for an upcoming recital. But before the dancing begins, Mavis must mediate the minor dramas that erupt among this motley but loveable crew on their way to triumph at their recital. The play is rated PG.

The Incinerator Theatre has a licensed bar and courtyard so patrons can enjoy drinks and snacks before the show and at interval. Devonshire tea is available at the matinees.

The season runs from 15th May to 1st June, and Friday, May 17 sees the return of the very popular complimentary wine and cheese evening. Patrons are invited to join in the fun of the play by dressing up in 80’s fashion on each of the Friday night performances.

Tickets can be purchased from the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre.
