Sisters Narelle Thorburn and Alicia Coop are in the business of giving – that is, helping others choose meaningful gifts for friends and family.

Embers and Twine came into existence when the pair started offering gift packs at markets and quickly realised that the most demand was for the items they had made themselves by hand.

Embers & Twine

“We try to offer thoughtful things that will make someone feel special,” Alicia said.

Embers & Twine

Framed personalised art featuring customised words and text are the biggest sellers at the shop which is located in a beautiful Old Flour Mill building in the Top of Town.

They have also created their own range of scented pure soy and coconut wax candles in a glorious array of aromas including Japanese Honeysuckle, Lemongrass & Lime and Fig & Cassis. Good to know: when your candles are finished you can bring the vessel back in to be refilled for half the original price!

They can also create gifts and table decorations for celebrations and weddings – including kokedama string gardens.

The stock changes regularly so it’s worth popping in for a look when you’re in the Top of Town.

This shop is beautifully decorated with fairy lights and vintage finds, and a charming addition to the eclectic gems you’ll find in this historic landmark in the heritage city.
