With the New Year just around the corner, Ipswich City Council is busy creating a calendar of fun and free events to help families enjoy summer in the city.

On Saturday 30 January, the new Swich Summer Sounds will kick off from 3pm with six hours of live local music, a Great Aussie BBQ hosted by Ipswich Hospital Foundation and Rotary Club of Ipswich City, a pop up deck bar thanks to Four Hearts Brewing Company and the amazing water play zone.

Due to covid restrictions you need to book your free tickets in advance, book here.

Jack Jones will perform at Switch Summer Sounds on Jan 30

As well as a packed calendar of events, work will continue on the precinct’s redevelopment, with the new children’s library, council administration building and EATS precinct due to open mid-year, with more than 800 Ipswich City Council staff making the move to the precinct.

The restoration of the historic Commonwealth Hotel is expected to be completed in April 2021, while work is expected to start on the former Ipswich City Plaza, now known as Metro B, during the first quarter.

Those Tap Guys

Expect the space to get bigger and better as the year goes on with loads of fun for the whole family, fantastic new spaces to explore and the re-emergence of Ipswich’s city heart.
