42 The Terrace‚ North Ipswich

An abandoned warehouse down a laneway on Ipswich’s city fringe has been repurposed as an indoor gel blaster arena.

Hardcore Blasters is a venture by husband and wife team Toby and Kathy who are luring crowds of all ages to compete in private parties or public sessions.

The recreational activity has similarities to paintball but instead of using paint-filled capsules, these blasters send out tiny water-grown gel balls.

Kathy says the fast-paced sessions fall somewhere between lazer force and paintball and offer an exhilarating, quite intense workout. “It’s thrilling, it gets your adrenaline pumping. “You don’t realise you’re doing a workout until you’ve finished but it’s really just great fun and everyone leaves with a smile on their face.”

The sessions are popular as corporate team building and social outings and can cost as little as $30 (plus $30 if you’re hiring all the gear).

Hardcore Blasters, a 13+ venue.

Public sessions are available at various times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the venue includes a shop and on-site repairs.
