This Mother’s Day, May 9, take time to pause and reflect on everything the mum in your life has done for you.  And if you have the chance to show her you care, here’s a few ideas for gifts or things to do together.

The Soul Nook Collective

The Soul Nook Collective is hosting a Magical Moments Mother’s Day event on Friday May 7 at 6pm, in partnership with Sip n Dip Australia.

The event includes your choice of either a concrete candle making or a resin wall clock workshop, dinner box (with either vegetarian or chicken risotto, warm roll, cultured butter and sticky date pudding with hot organic coffee), live music by Taylor Wilton, discounts in store and a gift to take home.

Arrive by 6pm and  relax by the fire, listening to the ambient tunes of Taylor Wilton.  Enjoy your delicious, soulful dinner prepared by wonderful chef, Areta. Then mosey on into your preferred art class, whilst your not crafting, you can sit back and enjoy the time with your mum.

The Cottage Restaurant will be offering a fabulous four course lunch lunch on Mother’s Day.

Be greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival.

Then enjoy Hervey Bay whiting, Barramundi brandard and red pepper coulis; Brisbane Valley quail, eggplant caviar, crème fraiche blini; seared sirloin and 72hr brisket, pommes sarladaise and nasturtium puree; finished with bitter sweet chocolate veloute and blueberry ice cream.

Cost is $80 per person, bookings are essential and a 50% deposit is required on booking.  No redemption of gift vouchers is available for Mother’s Day lunch.

Enjoy grilled tandoori salmon, stuffed golgappa with mint chutney and tamarind sauce and Bourbon chicken tikka for entree, followed by butter chicken, prawn methi malai, Bombay lamb masala, saffron rice, mixed naans for your mains and finish with a sweet treat.

Special menu at Ballistic Springfield

Mother’s Day at Ballistic Springfield will see the kitchen open from 10.30am to 4pm.  There will be live music with Lochie Mathews performing from 12pm-3pm and a jumping castle (weather permitting).

On the day Ballistic will be offering platters for two, which include a large core range beer and a glass of sparkling, choose from arancini balls, sliders, pork belly BAO buns and calamari for $50 and two meats, two cheese with pickled veg, olives, dip and bread for $55.

Head in for 7.30am-9am or 9am-10.30 for a plated breakfast.

Option one is eggs Benedict, savoury Pancake, ham or smoked salmon, served with spinach, hollandaise sauce and spring onion.

Option two is a sweet potato rosti, poached egg, roasted vine cherry tomatoes, avocado and chilli flakes.

Option three is a big breaky with hash brown, sausage, toast, egg, tomato, bacon, mushroom and baked beans.

Relive the romance of rail and have a picnic

A great place to take mum, that will keep the kids entertained is The Workshops Rail Museum.  Mum can check out the exhibits while the kids work off some energy in the Sciencentre and little nippers area.

The Workshops Rail Museum is also offering picnic hampers to enjoy on the grounds on Mother’s Day. 

There’s a morning tea hamper available at 10am with freshly baked scones, mini cupcakes, fruit, poppers, coffee/ tea and water. 

The lunch hamper at 12 noon includes Turkish bread with salad and cold meats, sandwiches, fruit, vanilla profiteroles, juice, tea/coffee and water, while the afternoon tea hamper at 2pm has a grazing board with cheese, deli meats, bread sticks, crackers and fruit as well as sweet cookies, juice, coffee/ tea and water.  You can also order mum a glass of wine enjoy with the hamper. Mexican Mother’s Day meal packages

Montezumas will be offering a special date night deal for Mother’s Day weekend from Saturday May 8 to Sunday May 9.

The deal includes two entrées, two mains and dessert for $60.

Choose from jalapeno poppers, taquitos, queso fundido dip, guacamole dip, ranchero dip or frijole dip for starters.  Then choose nachos, albondigas (Mexican meatballs), enchiladas, chilli verde, a taco platter or Montezuma’s delight (a corn tortilla smothered with frijoles, toppings, cheese, diced vegetable salad, ranchero sauce, sour cream and olives).  Dessert is four churros to share with chocolate and salted caramel dipping cause and two scoops of ice cream!

There will also be entertainment on the day from 12pm-3pm and 5.30pm-8.30pm.
