If you prefer the organic approach to stocking your fridge and pantry, there are some fantastic options for you around Ipswich. Here are some of our hottest spots to browse for food that is free of chemicals.

peak organics

Peak Organics at Ivory’s Rock

Make it a family outing and head straight to the source at Peak Organics – a farm gate market run every Saturday from 9am to 2pm. Just out of Ipswich and a 40-minute drive from Brisbane, Peak Organics boasts produce is as fresh as it can be. Just-plucked fruit and vegetables, straight from the organic gardens where this market is held. Get this on your calendar for the first market of 2018 – on January 13.

Market Organics

Market Organics has a fantastic array of stock in its spacious store as well as a café, Evolve Organic. Evolve spills from inside into a shady garden seating area where you can also buy plants.

There’s a big colourful fresh section as well as good things in jars – like sauerkraut and kim chi. Packaged goods including everything from specialty teas and gluten-free flours to nuts and snacks and spices.

Market Organics is at 53 Downs St, North Ipswich. Open 7am to 6pm weekdays and 7am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday.

Ipswich Good Food Co-op

This not-for-profit, incorporated collective bulk buys local/ethical/chemical free food and grocery items and distributes them to members in and around Ipswich. The co-op also promotes and assist members to transition to a low-carbon lifestyle.

Rafter & Rose

While you’re grabbing coffee and cake at the botanical cafe, Rafter & Rose, check out the small but tantalising range of chemical-free produce and preserves that grace the shelves here. You’ll find this cafe at 17 Ellenborough St, Ipswich. Phone 0401 073 644.

Dancing Bean WH

Dancing Bean Roastery

If it’s organic coffee you are after, check out Ipswich’s own Dancing Bean Roastery. In a converted warehouse down an alley off Brisbane St (behind Heisenberg Haus). The roastery, with a cool adjoining cafe and deck, recently added an organic offering to the list they supply to cafes across Queensland. You can get it here straight from the roaster to take home.

Dancing Bean is at Tenancy K, 164 Brisbane St, Ipswich. Phone 0413 000 979.

* Check websites for opening hours over the Christmas break.
