There’s a heap of great kids shows coming up at the Ipswich Civic Centre this year, bringing magic and wonder as favourite characters come to life on stage.

Whether your little one likes the Very Hungry Caterpillar, the Owl and the Pussycat or Pete the Sheep, there are so many shows to choose from this year that focus on the smallest in the family…And the best bit is tickets are $17.50 each or $15 each if you’ve got a group of four or more going – for most of these shows.

The Owl and the Pussycat

This enchanting and intimate theatrical experience for families is based on Edward Lear’s beloved children’s poem.

The Owl and the Pussycat has been created by a team of award-winning artists for children aged 4-10, with singing, interactive theatre and troupe of musical puffins!

The show will be at 6pm-7pm on Wednesday April 14 and at 9am and 11am on Thursday April 15.

The Midnight Gang

Midnight gang

The team behind the 13, 26, 52, 78 and 91 Storey Treehouses bring the bestselling book, The Midnight Gang, to life on stage in celebration of friendship, love and the power of imagination for children 6 years and older and their families.

See the show on Sunday May 16 at 1pm-2pm and 6pm-7pm.

Splash Test Dummies

The Splash Test Dummies are back with their splish splashing circus set to drown you in tears of laughter!  See brilliant stunt work, acrobatics, juggling and comedy in this show.

Tickets are $22 each, see the show on Thursday July 8 at 6pm-7pm.

Pete the Sheep

Based on the picture book by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley, with foot-tapping music and lyrics by Phil Scot and comedic direction by Jonathon Biggins, Pete the Sheep is a lively and fun award-winning musical for young audiences and their adults!

See the show on Monday August 23 at 6pm-7pm.

The Imperial Russian Ballet

Swan Lake – Imperial Russian Ballet Company

While not typically a kids show, the Imperial Russian Ballet is a great one to take the older kids to, especially if they’ve never before experienced the ballet.

The ballet company comprises 40 dancers from the major ballet schools in Russia and following 2019’s sell out show they are back at the Ipswich Civic Centre in 2021 showcasing two well-known ballets – The Nutcracker and Don Quixote.

See the two hour show on Wednesday October 13 at 7.30pm.

Show costs $99 each for adults, $85 for students and concessions, $65 for 3-15 years, and $85 each for groups of six or more.

Make a night of it by grabbing dinner at one of Ipswich’s great restaurants before the show!
