There are close to eight-and-a-half-thousand hectares of parks and green space in the City of Ipswich…that equates to roughly 550 spots around town that are waiting for you, the family, or friends to explore.

There are the old favourites like Queens Park, an icon of the City of Ipswich. The park is in fact the oldest in Regional Queensland dating back to 1864! We recently checked out the Queens Park Café and the Ipswich Nature Centre, which are both on grounds there. A nice, easy day out for the kids if you’re short on ideas!

One of the newer parks on the block is Robelle Domain in Springfield Central. You have the option of chilling out on any one of the numerous, manicured green lawns, or why not enjoy the 11 kilometres of pathways that run throughout the park? Ideal for scooters and bikes!

If the kids are budding pilots, then you can’t go past Lobley Park. The aircraft-inspired park takes inspiration from Amberley Air Base, with a big control tower, and fuselage of a cargo plane to play in! The swings are also shaped as parachutes, and the pathways are painted to look like clouds. A true aeronautical experience!

Another spot worth mentioning is Bob Gamble Park, on the banks of the Bremer River in town. It boasts a zero-depth water play area, meaning there is no drowning risk. There is also a flying fox, big “spider web” apparatus to climb on, and secret forts hidden amongst the greenery. Consider bringing the whole family down for a picnic; there are loads of facilities, including tidy BBQs and bathrooms, as well as ample space to spread out.

We have only touched on the huge number of parks around the City of Ipswich.
