Ride with history on a steam train
Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway has added new services to its program this year, including two in March.
The Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway‘s new Pioneer Luncheon Experience on March 17 departs at 1pm for an hour-and-a-half journey. Travel along the scenic Swanbank – Bundamba Railway with sweet and savoury platters served in air conditioned comfort.
Hauled by heritage diesel locomotive 1616, this trip recreates the grandeur of dining on board “The Queenslander” – minus the 36-hour trip. Tickets are $50 per person and seats are limited. Book here.
Meanwhile, on March 24 there’s a new Murder Mystery Dinner Train Experience aboard the Queensland Pioneer. Past passengers on these dinner trains will find a new set of murder suspects. The story swings passengers back to 1960’s North Queensland.
Departing from Swanbank Station, this journey will prompt those along for the ride to work out which story they believe. That of a band of bikers or a pair of Mods…
Track down who was responsible for the murder of a young man in Bowen. All while you take in the passing scenery and the scrumptious food.
Come dressed up in your swinging beads, your caftans or your leathers and enjoy a night of good food, good entertainment and a great step back in time. A three-course meal will be provided by Mario of Casa Mia Ipswich and there’ll be on board drinks service. This is a great night out.
