Meet the Kalina Philly Steak Sandwich… truly a sandwich worth jumping in the car and driving for!
This is one of the Flavours of Ipswich offerings from Café Kalina, in the new Kalina Springfield Estate, where owner Che and his team have earned a great following from locals and regulars from as far away as North Lakes and the Gold Coast.
The café overlooks a swathe of green space beside an adventure playground and welcomes dog owners with their furry friends on a large an airy deck.
But back to that Philly Steak creation… the sliced rib fillet is teamed with caramelised onions, melted gooey provolone cheese, bell peppers and mushrooms with a side of chips.
The café prides itself on a menu that smashes out past the usual breakfast and lunch options. For Flavours of Ipswich choose from two mains and any dessert from the cabinet for $25. The other main is a dish featuring calamari tenderised in a kiwi fruit marinade and served flash grilled on a salad with garlic aioli.
Desserts will change daily but might include the house-made gluten-free chocolate brownie with berries and a caramel swirl cheesecake.
