Mr Bill Kitson, Curator of the Queensland Survey Museum, will give a presentation about how the urgent need for topographical mapping was met when the threat of Japanese invasion was imminent.

A Survey Core was formed in Queensland comprised of Surveyors and Cartographers. They completed mapping the topography of the Queensland coastline by the end of the war and were then sent to battlefields in Borneo where they assisted the Australian and American armies.

In the 1980s Bill Kitson interviewed about thirty of these men and their stories form the basis of his presentation.
