Cooneana Heritage Centre, 1041 Redbank Plains Road New Chum

Take a day out in the school holidays to spend time together doing things your grandparents did. Everything you will see and do is put on by our fantastic volunteers.
Play with your kids as your grandparents played with games like hopscotch, skipping, sack races, stilt walking, tug-of-war, hoops and croquet.
Join in with the cook making butter in the old-fashioned kitchen.
Tour the museum and all the displays.
Go to school in the old schoolroom with our School Ma’am (mind your manners!).
Create a collage together or make yourselves a peg doll.
Watch blacksmiths making tools and ornaments.
Do the washing with the laundry maid and walk through Cooneana Homestead where the Welsby family lived from 1868.
See what life was like for the coal miners in Jim Donald House.

Visit the Historical Motorcycle Club, the Genealogical Society, the Spinners, Weavers, Fibre Artisans of Ipswich and the Bendigo Bank tent.
Marvel at the tiny scenes created by the Ipswich Mini Crafters.
Have a sizzled sausage for lunch with a cool drink and an ice cream for dessert.
