There’s no need to travel into Brisbane to celebrate New Year’s Eve because there are lots of family-friendly events, parties and fireworks being held right here in Ipswich.

Whether you want to spend the night singing karaoke, busting a move on the dance floor, sipping a glass of bubbly, or gazing up at the night sky watching fireworks, you can do all of this plus more at one of the many great events happening across the city.

Here are some of the best places where you can say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024.

Colourful fireworks displays to light up the night sky

Fireworks from 2019 Event

Five colourful fireworks displays will light up the night skies over Ipswich on New Year’s Eve, which is sure to delight kids and adults.

Fireworks will launch across the region at 9pm in Springfield Central, South Ripley, Ipswich Central, Chuwar and Goodna, with Ipswich City Council strategically choosing central locations where residents can view the displays from their backyards or in large, open public spaces nearby.

Providence’s Family Fiesta

Grab your family and friends and head to South Ripley for a night of family-friendly fun at Providence’s Family Fiesta and Fireworks event.

Festivities include live music, roving entertainment, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting and food trucks, with all the fun kicking off at 6pm.

The event will then conclude with a spectacular fireworks display by Ipswich City Council at 9pm.

This is an alcohol-free event, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic rugs or chairs.

All the fun will be held at Harmony Crescent, South Ripley. 

Celebrate ’24 at Tivoli!

Tivoli Drive-in

With a bustling marketplace, huge array of engaging family activities, live entertainment, mouth-watering food and a stunning fireworks finale, there is something for everyone at the Tivoli Drive-in.

Appearing on the night will be local groups and performers, First Nations people, Bobby Holmes (who was a finalist in Australian Idol in 2023) and Queensland locals Late November, who are touring internationally and nationally this year.

It is free to attend.

The Tivoli Drive-in is located at 50 Coal Rd, Chuwar.

Sip and sing at The Rusty Nail

Enjoy an evening of live music and bubbles at The Rusty Nail on December 31.  Performer Ethan Hill will be entertaining the crowd with his song list from 9pm until the clock strikes at midnight.

Before the countdown begins, everyone will also receive a glass of bubbly to cheer the New Year.  Guests can also add on a Charcuterie Board, Queso Board or a trio of dips for an additional charge.

Enjoy retro hits at Brothers Leagues Club

Get your big hair, leg warmers and disco shoes on and bring in 2024 in style at Brothers Leagues Club.

There will be entertainment all night long from Jezza, Mirror Ball Express and DJ Jules, playing all the disco and retro hits you love, plus plenty of classic party material to keep the dance floor thumping

Guests who will be spending New Years Eve at Club Services Ipswich are advised to wear comfortable shoes, with a big night of live music and dancing planned.

Kicking off at 5.30pm will be the band Fire and Rain, who are a favourite amongst club members. They will be warming up the crowd and playing until 8pm.

Afterwards, fans of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison can relive their greatest hits with a special tribute show from 8.30pm-12.30am.

There will also be a chance to start off 2024 a little richer, with the club giving away up to $3000 in cash throughout the course of the night.

Glow karaoke at the Mihi Tavern

Start practicing your favourite songs now because come December 31, it’s your time to shine on the stage with glow karaoke at the Mihi Tavern.

Karaoke will begin at 7.30pm, but if you feel like making a night out of it, book a table for dinner first.

The Mihi Tavern is located at 26 Fernvale Rd, Brassall. 

Fancy dress ‘P’ party at Club Parkview

A fancy dress party will be held at Club Parkview in Goodna this New Years, with guests asked to dress up as something or someone starting with the letter ‘P’.

This family-friendly event will include prizes for the best costumes (kids and adults), as well as a face painter, balloon artist, and food and beverage deals.

All the fun begins at 5pm and will finish with a dazzling fireworks display at 9pm.

After the fireworks, the ‘P’ party will become an over-18 event with live entertainment by Guilty Advocates, who will play an array of classic rock songs that will have you singing and dancing well into the night.

Club Parkview is located at 32 Woogaroo Street, Goodna. 

Mixed Nuts Masquerade Ball at United Sports Club

Ring in the New Year with some of Queensland’s most fabulous drag queens at United Sports Club.

Guests can expect a fun night full of drag entertainment, laughs and dancing by performers Dame Martini Ice, Veritee, Diamond Goodrim, Layla Bloomer, Miss Dee and Britany Love.

Come dressed however you like, but organisers would love for everyone to wear a masquerade mask. There will be prizes for the best dressed, best mask and fanciest couple.

This event is presented by Martini Ice Mixed Nuts and tickets are required. Pre-sale tickets are $32.50 (includes booking fee) or $40 on the door. Click here to book.
