Keira Billy and a tub among the gum trees

Country Queensland has never looked better than from the outdoor tub at Keira Billy cottage.

Located just 45 minutes from Brisbane and 15 minutes from Ipswich, and a handy three-kilometres from the motorsport precinct at Willowbank, this is a classic country escape where visitors can leave the city pace far behind.

It’s here that farmer Sandra Pegler is sharing the rural surrounds – and spectacular sunsets – of her sheep and cattle property, Keira Farm,  with the addition of a two-bedroom cottage named Keira Billy.

Keira Billy balances country charm with modern conveniences to offer a relaxing home away from home – complete with a fully equipped kitchen and bedrooms fitted with televisions.

There’s a third and even larger screen on the veranda, which also boasts a large barbecue and an outlook across to rustic cattle yards. And while the cottage has a bathroom of its own, some might say the icing on the cake here is the outdoor tub with uninterrupted views through the gum trees to a mountain-studded far horizon. That’s the popular hiking destination, Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate your eyes are landing on.  As dusk falls, there are fairy lights strung up above to ramp up the ambience.

If an evening under the stars is your cup of (billy) tea, there’s a fire pit out the front surrounded with log timber seating – for times when Queensland is not in drought and under fire restrictions.

Check the Keira Farm website for full details and bookings.
