A Comedy by Richard Harris:  This heart-warming comedy chronicles several months in the life of a beginners’ dance class attended by a group of people from a variety of backgrounds. Each one has his or her own reason for joining and they all make a point of coming each week to chat, relax and, if they can manage to, learn a couple of dance steps.

Led by Mavis, their eternally patient instructor, and accompanied by the pianist Mrs Fraser, the students strive to master the basics of dance. But the steps and routines are just the background for the real focus of the play – the relationships and interactions of these ten very different people.

By their final performance, not only have the class members developed some degree of skill, but they have also overcome the inhibitions, awkwardness and personality conflicts that have kept them out of sync.  Fred and Ginger, eat your heart out!

Now in its fourth year, the festival features a range of new and exciting events alongside the popular favourites such as the Tables for Ten dining experience, country carnival and the colourful street parade.

The Veteran Car Club of Australia (Queensland) Inc is hosting the CITY OF IPSWICH NATIONAL VETERAN TOUR from the 12th to the 19th of September 2012. Veteran Cars manufactured prior to January 1919 from every state in Australia and New Zealand will be assembling in Ipswich for a week of veteran vehicle motoring in and around Ipswich. Of particular note will be two events where the public will be made most welcome. Event one will be a Gas Light parade where the veteran vehicles will be driven through the streets of Ipswich on the evening of Thursday the 13th of September using Carbide Gas lit head lamps and kerosene side and tail lamps. Event two will be a public display of the 150 plus vehicles at the Ipswich show grounds on Sunday the 16th of September. To add to the atmosphere the public are encouraged to dress in period dress at both public events.
