| Haenke Architectural Drawings
|
|
Date: 1Sept - 24 OctEarly Queensland Architect William Martin Haenke began his career in Ipswich, then worked in Melbourne before returning in 1900. He made a significant impression on the local landscape through his unique approach and by introducing the Californian bungalow style to this region. Many of his buildings remain standing in Ipswich today. The charm of Haenke’s beautiful hand-drawn designs featured in this exhibition is a reminder of the talent of the architectural draftsman and the enchanting detail of Ipswich buildings of the early 20th Century.

| George Dowden Display

|
Date: 1 September - 24 OctoberOne of Queensland’s earliest recorded Colonial cabinet-makers, George Dowden immigrated from England aboard the Argo in 1854 and began trading in Ipswich in the mid-1850s. Until his death in 1875, Dowden created fine furniture for a number of the grand residences built in the Ipswich region during the mid-Victorian period of affluence and prosperity. The significant historic pieces in this exhibition not only demonstrate Dowden’s craftsmanship but reflect the varying tastes and styles of the era.

| Cash on Track
|
|
Date: 1 September - 10 December The Cash on Track display charts the history of the railway Pay Buses which operated across New South Wales from 1937 until the mid 1980s, moving cash along rail lines to pay employees at stations and maintenance gangs working on the tracks. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the very first, and only surviving rail bus - FP1, which has been beautifully restored to its original condition by a team of 16 RailCorp apprentices.

We’ve gathered together all of the ingredients of a great birthday party – music, dancing, food, creativity and more across a 10-week program of workshops sessions and free activities.

Date: 4-5/ 11-12 SeptemberOn open garden days light refreshments are served by the nominated charity. These can be taken to the verandah which overlooks the garden, so you can enjoy the vistas and enjoy the ambience of the garden. The garden now includes 2 Rose Gardens, Rainforest Walk, circular Terraces, Conifer walks, Ponds & Waterlily Lagoon, Bromeliad & Orchid Garden, Succulent Garden, Meditation/Gravel Garden, Orchid and Wisteria Courtyard, Palm Border along with much more. Gazebos and seating areas are also located throughout.

Come and see one of the biggest collections of flowering clivia in Australia under one roof. Take in the ambience and beauty of the many flowering colours, shapes and sizes. Explore the various clivia types and some of the rarest flowers and variegated clivia in the world. Don't forget to bring your camera. This is the third year that Pine Mountain Botanics Pty Ltd has organised this event at Pine Mountain Nursery which has attracted many interstate and overseas visitors. Date: 24 September ARTISAN WONDERLAND is a programme of 40 art workshops running throughout the year. Artisan Wonderland is an initiative of the Ipswich Arts Council (Regional Arts Ipswich Incorporated), offering tutelage in writing, dancing, painting, photography, and a host of other disciplines at a minimal cost through the sponsorship of the Regional Arts Development Fund. Book early as numbers are strictly limited.

Date: 29 September - 16 October While determined women’s liberationist Libby convinces her career-minded sister Carey, a dedicated nurse, that marriage is not for them, their wily younger sibling Blythe, who has much to gain if her sisters leave home, has different ideas. She aids and abets their determined suitors in the hope that love will win the day.
Using theatrical devices to move the action through history, Time and Time Again is a light-hearted examination of the conflicts facing women since suffragettes began the march to the corporate boardroom, and leads to the conclusion that the more things change the more they are the same.
